The stylized version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game likes turning boss fights into room problems first and damage races second. If a showdown feels messy, the real fix is usually to shut down the gimmick the room is built around, then punish the boss once the arena settles.

This page is the quick-reference boss guide for the Wii and PlayStation 2 branch. If you want the full route into each fight, keep the chapter walkthrough open too. If you are already standing in front of the problem and just need the short version, start here.

What counts as a boss fight here?

On the stylized branch, some chapter climaxes are obvious bosses and some are named encounter chains that hit with the same weight. This guide covers the fights that can actually stall a run, including phase changes, arena mechanics, and the big named enemies the branch keeps using as gates.

Boss habits that save time on this branch

  • If the room has webs, slime wells, floating book stands, moving gears, portals, or hidden doors, that machinery matters more than free-firing at the boss.
  • Stasis Stream is often a positioning tool here, not just a panic button. Freeze the thing that is about to ruin your footing, then move.
  • Paragoggles matter in more boss lead-ins than you think. When the route or weak point seems to vanish, check the ghost-world version of the room before you assume you missed something.
  • When helpers keep spawning, cut the pileup down before you chase greed damage. The stylized branch snowballs fast when you let the arena fill up.

1. Slimer, Pappy Sargossa, and the Kitchen Golem

The first stylized chapter throws three different boss rhythms at you: a chase, a brawl, and a construct fight. Treat them like separate jobs instead of one long haunted-hotel blur.

  • Slimer: every time he ducks out of sight, stop guessing and go back to the P.K.E. Meter. You lose more time to bad pursuit than to his actual health pool.
  • Pappy Sargossa: keep the room from cluttering up, strafe the thrown junk, and pin him as soon as he drops into a clean wrangle window.
  • Kitchen Golem: do not stand directly in front of it trading blows. Strip it apart, wrangle exposed pieces aggressively, and stay mobile so it cannot rebuild while you are flat-footed.
  • Best companion page: Sedgewick Hotel.

2. Stay Puft

Stay Puft is loud on purpose. The win condition is calmer than the spectacle makes it look.

  • During the street push, keep the route moving instead of wandering off to settle every side fight.
  • If the next opening is still blocked, it is probably meant to stay blocked until Stay Puft destroys it for you. Let the set piece do its job.
  • In the final exchange, keep your attention split the right way: hurt Stay Puft, knock down incoming projectiles, and use room debris when the game gives you clean ammunition.
  • Best companion page: Times Square Office Building.

3. The Gray Lady and Transmogrified Gray Lady

The library keeps trying to trick you into chasing the ghost body before the room is ready. Do the room work first.

  • In the lead-in fights, keep taking the newest supernatural opening instead of trying to map the whole library in your head.
  • Once the transformed Gray Lady appears, destroy the floating book stands around her before you waste shots on the shielded body.
  • Shock Blast is especially useful here because the fights keep collapsing into close range.
  • Best companion page: New York Public Library.

4. Azetlor, The Collector

Azetlor is the cleanest example of the stylized branch telling you to use the room, not just the beam.

  • Throw or return the loose book masses into him whenever he opens up.
  • When his tongue is exposed, use the Capture Stream to tear it loose fast instead of pecking at him with weak direct fire.
  • Clean up the summoned Book Centurions or Book Golem between damage windows so the arena never turns into a full pileup.
  • Best companion pages: New York Public Library and Azetlor the Destroyer.

5. Black-Slimed T-Rex and T-Rex Skull

The museum boss stretch gets cleaner the moment you stop obsessing over damage and start calming the floor down first.

  • Before you tunnel on the T-Rex, clear the Reapers and Hound Demons so the arena stops stealing your attention.
  • Against the body, circle it, coat it with slime, and stay close enough to a teammate that a bad hit does not turn into a long recovery spiral.
  • When the skull separates, shift gears immediately: slime first, then Boson Darts or other clean follow-up damage while staying mobile.
  • Best companion page: Natural History Museum.

6. Spider Witch and Transmogrified Spider Witch

The hotel makes the lead-in confusing, but the boss itself is surprisingly honest once you read the webbing correctly.

  • Freeze the web she is hanging from, blast it out, and punish her while she is on the floor.
  • When she climbs, keep ripping the webbing out from under her instead of chasing her body up the wall.
  • If she falls into a weird loop animation, stripping the remaining webbing from the surface she fell from can usually reset the fight.
  • Best companion pages: Return to the Sedgewick Hotel and Spiderwitch.

7. Black Slime Behemoth

This fight is really a machinery test with a boss attached to it.

  • Before the arena settles into the real fight, make sure the generator and gear-walkway work is actually finished cleanly. A sloppy setup makes the boss room feel worse than it is.
  • Use the P.K.E. Goggles to spot exposed weak points instead of guessing at the body through the slime effects.
  • Charge Slime Mines fully before planting them, and keep running so the beast’s slime pools and spawned bugs do not pin you in one corner.
  • Best companion pages: Lost Island (Shandor’s Island) and Black Slime Behemoth.

8. Shandor, Gozerian Sorcerer and Shandor, Ascendant

The final stylized showdown looks chaotic, but it is one of the most readable boss sequences in the game once you respect the order of operations.

  • During the Architect-style phase, keep moving until Shandor settles into a clear form, freeze him, unload damage, then wrangle and slam him toward the center portal when the window opens.
  • In the Destructor phase, ignore the temptation to freestyle. Read the mask: plain mask first, direct damage second, black-slime cleanup third, floating-obelisk shield break fourth, then repeat.
  • The hands are mostly there to waste your focus. The real sequence is always the mask and the protections around it.
  • Best companion pages: Central Park Cemetery and Shandor the Architect.
