Prime Timeline
This is my name for the timeline that features the main cast of characters from the original movie onward. I call it the Prime Timeline because it is the primary team, and if all other Ghostbusters dimensions/universes collapsed, I think this one (or maybe The Real Ghostbusters) would be the one remaining timeline. Some people have taken to calling this the Spenglerverse, because Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (and presumably, hopefully, Ghostbuster 5) focus on the Spengler family. While I love those movies, the first two films were about more characters than just Egon.
Alternate Dimensions
These are the movies that do not fit in with the Prime Timeline. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call exists in a dimension where the original Ghostbusters never existed. The animated Ghostbusters film remains to be seen. I have hope that it will part of the Prime Timeline, but there’s not enough information about it yet.
