Update: It is live! Here is a brief overview of the changes to the game so far.
Christmas costumes on ghosts: Many ghosts have Christmas themed costumes. Based on the fact that my current roster of ghosts all have those costumes, they won’t keep those after the event is over. Unfortunately, unlike Pokemon Go, where I have Pikachu in a Santa hat, all year round, that will not be the case here. I would have loved to have additional ghosts in Christmas costumes, but that’s where we are. Change Grade: B
Costumed ghosts include:
PVP cost changes: It used to cost 100 Coins to get into a PVP battle, and you could cycle through potential opponents at 100 Coins per, basically looking for an easy target and climbing the ranks. It is now free to jump into a battle, but to cycle costs a bit. I saw 1500 Coins for the first, and it went dramatically up from there. Someone reported the cost to them being somewhere around 37000 Coins. I am not sure if that is accurate, or an exaggeration, but based on my own experience, it probably is accurate. I believe they are doing this to limit gaming the system to climb the ranks. It is frustrating, though, because there are some battles that I just can not win, and it makes it less fun to play if I know I’ll lose before I even start. Change Grade: C
Weapon upgrades: They moved the upgrade button so now you can see what it would cost to run an upgrade without the need to tap into it first. I like that change. It’s a bit quicker. Change Grade: A
Shop and Outfits: They moved the outfits that you can purchase out from your character customization section, and into the shop. This is easier to understand, and faster to see what you can buy, and what you already own. I appreciate this change. Change Grade: A
Christmas Jumpsuit / Proton Pack: The entire setup is 600 Gems. It includes the proton pack and the red suit. I personally find the pack to be on the ridiculous side. Like the RGB packs and suits, if you purchase it for the male character and want to switch your character’s gender for whatever reason, you would need to purchase it again if you want it for the female gender avatar. I would have also liked to see the suit and pack sold separately. Package Grade: C
Yuki: Yuki is available in the game. She’s the 151st ghost, now a permanent part of the game. She’ll probably become fairly rare after this event ends, but I’m looking for her.
People have found her in the wild, traveling from Dimensional Door to Dimensional Door, looking for her to be marked “Possible to Appear” in the Ghost Tracker.
She has also been found in Ecto-Spheres. Not sure the type of Ecto-Sphere or the time it needs to convert, to be a possible Yuki. If anyone knows, please comment.

On Monday December 17, from 5am to 9am (UTC+0 standard), Ghostbusters World will be updated for the holiday season.
The update will include the following:
- Holiday Gear
- (Could this be the Santa hats they wore in Ghostbusters 2? Update: no such luck.)
- The following two items appear in the event banner, which you can find pictured below:
- Red Uniform with Winter-themed Ghostbusters logo
- Gift-wrapped Proton Pack
- Increased spawn rates for rare ghosts
- A new apparition arriving to spread wintry chill
I hope that this comes with some other bug fixes and tweaks to make the game better. I’m looking forward to this!
It looks like we may have a good look at what we might be seeing for the Christmas event. Does this mean that some ghosts are going to appear with Santa hats? We’ll see!
It also looks like Santa Claus is going to be a ghost, and that he wields a big sword.
The red suits with the snow-covered logo are kinda cool looking, though. If the gift-wrapped Proton Packs are really happening… I’m not sure how I feel about them. If they’re free, I may go for it, just to see how it looks, but I wouldn’t want to keep it.
