What Phones Don’t Work with Ghostbusters World (anymore)? And what ones do?

There have been several reports of Motorola phones not working with Ghostbusters World since the latest update to bring the game back online after a Unity update seemed to break the game for everyone.

What we’d like to do is collect a list of phones that the game works on, and doesn’t work on, so that you can be informed as to which phones to get and which to avoid.

We’d also like to be able to inform the developers that there are several phones, and therefore several players, that used to be able to play the game, and now they can’t. The game used to run on these phones, and now they don’t.

Please comment below as to which phone you have, and whether it worked before and doesn’t anymore, has always seemed to work, or has started having problems (such as the memory leak that seems to happen when you use Ecto-Goggles).

Confirmed Phones that Work with Ghostbusters World

  1. The game appears to be “broken” on the Sony Xperia Z2 – (Model: D6503 – Marshmallow 6.0.1).

I know this is a really old phone model (2014) but until the last update in July, I had been playing the game with no “major” issues since launch. It now refuses to load past the “Made with Unity” splash screen against version 1.16.2. and just crashes back to my phones screen.

The odd thing is, if I install version 1.16.1 from one of APK sites like APKPure, I can get back into the game but after about a minute, I get the error message “Failed to load data. VerifyXigncodeCookie 1404”. The game then automatically restarts and it just repeats the process. Before the 1.16.2 update was pushed out, this version was working just fine on my phone, with no issues.

I’ve passed all this information on to the developers since the issue started. However, they have been and appear to be, extremely poor, when it comes to communication, as I haven’t had any update since I was last in contact with them (3rd Sept), to confirm whether this is going to be fixed, or even that my phone will no longer be compatible going forward.

They may or may not be, a small development team but a little better communication, would go a long way…

  2. S7 edge works, but framing after few minutes on map, when dimension door is on it, and few ghosts flying around. Works with Huawei P Smart 2019, when you install Google play services from apkmirror ?

  3. Ghostbusters World no longer works on Samsung Galaxy J4+, since the last “update”, even though it still downloads and so should be compatible.

  4. Of the devices I have and attempted to play on, as of June 6, 2020..
    iPad 11″ 2020 = works
    Goggle Pixel (1) = works
Google Pixel 4 XL = fail; Displays a “Pause download” button and motion bar moving left to right (not necessarily a progress indicator) and then the screen blanks out after about 20 seconds. Moving the phone from portrait to landscape causes the “Pause download” screen to come back, but disappears again after about 20 seconds. In looking at storage used, the “download” never consumes more storage, so it’s not downloading anything despite what it may look like.
