Zombicide x Ghostbusters Board Game Crossover is Coming Soon

Zombicide Ghostbusters Expansion

CMON is partnering with IDW Games, and releasing limited edition Ghostbusters crossover sets that are compatible with both Zombicide 1 and 2 board games. While they are phasing out the first version of Zomicide, they did consider it while creating this crossover. They mentioned that quantities for this are going to be limited, so whenever they do announce it, be sure to get your orders in.

In the game, it appears that the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man is a character type called an Abomination. According to the game’s creators, Slimer is going to be more of a companion character, and not an abomination. He’ll be attracted to follow you when you use a food card in the game.

All four Ghostbusters have skills that match their personalities. Peter Venkman taunts the zombies, for example. The Ghostbusters themselves all start with proton packs, and the proton packs have a sort of escalation. The more they keep firing the proton packs, the more powerful the packs become. If you roll sixes, they deal more damage, and give you more dice to use. “You fire it up, you hold tight, and chaos ensues.”

You also will have Zuul and Vinz Clortho roaming around and opening up gates to let more abominations spawn.

They also have an interesting mechanic to the game, where Gozer shows up in whatever form you choose it to be. When Gozer spawns you get to draw 3 abomination cards, and you get to choose 2 abilities for it to have. You choose the kind of thing that is going to chase you down, and be your nightmare.

There’s also the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. The only way to bring him down is to cross the streams. Several heroes need to use their proton packs in the same round, and roll a couple of sixes to fire them up, and create the mega event that brings it down. It’s very deadly, but very epic if you do succeed in working together as a team to bring him down.

There will be 3 Ghostbusters packs available when they are released:

  • Ghostbusters Pack #1 includes a Terror Dog (Zuul), Winston, Peter, and Slimer
  • Ghostbusters Pack #2 includes a Terror Dog (Vinz Clortho), Ray, Egon, and Gozer
  • Stay-Puft Abomination

The sculpts for all the Ghostbusters, Slimer, Gozer, and Stay-Puft look fantastic.

There is currently no announced release date for the expansion packs but they are coming very soon.

I’ve queued the announcement video up to the announcement of the Ghostbusters sets at 25 minutes in. The announcement is about seven minutes long. And take a look at the screenshots I grabbed below.
