How to make Ghosts spawn in Ghostbusters World

Ghostbusters World

There are a few ways that ghosts spawn in the game that are naturally occurring instances, and one that you can use to make ghosts appear around you for a limited time. We’re going to explain each of these ways below, and we hope you’ll find this helpful as you start your journey toward becoming a world class Ghostbuster!

Proximity to Dimensional Doors

Ghosts appear around Dimensional Doors. When you move so that your character’s circle activates the door, which causes the door to turn green, you’ll see other ghosts appear. Check your ghost list and you’ll see that there are different ghosts on the list. These are all ghosts that can currently show up as long as you stay in the general vicinity of that gate. You’ll find that if you move out of range of the gate, the ghost list changes and the ghosts on the map will also change.

Keep in mind:

  1. The ghosts around a Dimensional Door will change every 15 minutes. This is not matched with the time on the clock, so it won’t change at, say, 12, 12:15, 12:30, etc.
  2. To get to ghosts that appear on the ghost list, but not on the map, start clearing what you see. Someone mentioned that you can move out of range and back in range until the ghost you are looking for appears. I have not had a chance to verify that claim, though, so it may be true, and may not.
  3. Not all Dimensional Doors will spawn all types of ghosts. Some tend to spawn more Water, others Earth, others Fire.

None of this applies to remote gates.

Use Ecto-Goggles

These bring the Dark and Light type ghosts. As long as you catch or destabilize all of the ghosts that they bring, you’ll get sixteen ghosts brought right to you, no matter if there is a Dimensional Door or not.

The game’s support people said that the Ecto-Goggles should cause more rare ghosts of all types to appear nearby as a direct result. I don’t know if this would happen while using the Goggles or after, nor if they mean using the Goggles by a Dimensional Door. If anyone has been able to show an increase in rare ghosts of any type, outside of the use of Goggles, please comment.

Open the Game (and Take a Walk)

You can almost always find a couple of ghosts by simply opening the game. Even if you’re not by a Dimensional Door, ghosts seem to be everywhere. Rare ghosts a far more rare in these circumstances. If you’re working on your ghost collection, upgrading your weapons, or simply stocking up your inventory, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a ghost or two to catch at any given moment.

If there is nothing around, reboot the app.

  1. Goggles do seem to spawn rarer ghosts, at least for me. A few days ago I used goggles and busted everything that came within range. Plenty of light and dark ghosts, a few normal elementals, but also a Flatwoods Monster (only my second one, both when using goggles), two Ghosts of Christmas Past (the first time seeing this ghost) and my first Jeoseung Saja.

In the past I’ve also had my first/only encounters with Ivo Shando and the Fort Detmerring Ghost using goggles, and Christmas Present seems to pop up more often when I’m using them as well.
