Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street reportedly in the works at Sony Pictures

Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street

Today, a rumor dropped that another live-action Ghostbusters film is in development at Sony Pictures. The working title for the film is Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street.

While we don’t know anything beyond the name of the possible film, other than the fact that this will be live-action, we have some thoughts.

The title hints strongly toward another holiday-themed Ghostbusters film. And that makes me very happy. Ghostbusters 2 is a Christmas and New Year’s Eve movie. Not just that, but some of the best episodes of The Real Ghostbusters are set around holidays, like X-Mas Marks the Spot, When Halloween Was Forever, and Halloween II 1/2.

I have a feeling that this will be the third film in the Spengler Family saga, which I have been greatly enjoying. I think their story could go for several more films, easily. And I think the make-up of the team could rotate members several times.

The one thing that I ask for in this next film, but probably will not get, is another montage of ghostbusting in the middle of the movie. Or shake things up and put one at the beginning of the movie. Another idea would be to have it happen during the end credtis for the film, but I would rather see the action, rather than having names covering things.

You have no idea how much I needed this news. In the past 2 years, I lost two aunts, and then this summer another family member. One who was practically a brother of mine growing up, suddenly. This news doesn’t fill the void, but it does help to ease the pain.
