Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime gives the rookie team a smaller toolset than some of the bigger Ghostbusters games, but it still has a clear combat rhythm. The main trick is matching the right stream type to the right enemy aura, then saving the heavier control tools for the moments that actually need them.
Primary weapon streams
Proton Beam
The default stream is the familiar starting point. It is the beam you will lean on before the game starts asking for more deliberate color matching.
Plasma Inductor
The Plasma Inductor covers one of the alternate energy colors the team cycles to during combat. Once the sewer and mid-game enemy mix opens up, switching cleanly matters a lot more than just holding the trigger and hoping the problem goes away.
Fermion Shock
Fermion Shock rounds out the three-color attack setup. By the time the game is fully rolling, reading the enemy aura and swapping fast is one of the clearest skill checks the campaign keeps returning to.
Support gear and systems
- Ghost trap usage: the game lets smaller enemies get burned down quickly, but larger threats still push you back toward classic trap logic.
- Ectoplasmic Shield: a defensive support system for rougher encounters and crowded rooms.
- Power Enhancer: a boost system that helps the rookie team hit harder when the field gets busy.
- Nano-Massage Health Recovery System: a recovery tool built into the pack loadout.
Ecto-4WD
The Ecto-4WD is not just a background prop. It defines the two street-drive levels and gives the campaign a different pace whenever Geoff is trying to keep the team moving through open-city chaos.
What the game is really asking from you
- Read enemy colors instead of treating every fight the same.
- Keep moving in the crowded arenas.
- Save your focus for bosses and room-control problems, not just the first thing in front of you.
- Remember that this game likes pressure from multiple directions at once.
