Ghostbusters x Men in Black: Ecto-Terrestrial Invasion is a 1-to-4-player cooperative campaign game where each player controls a team made up of one Ghostbuster and one MIB agent. Everyone works together to stop Zorg’s Ecto-Terrestrial invasion, but the game also tracks which team earns the most bragging rights along the way.
Important note: this page follows the official manual as closely as practical. Where the page compresses or reorganizes wording for web use, treat it as paraphrased; if that creates any confusion, consult the official manual PDF.
Game summary
The rulebook frames the game as a linked-scenario campaign. Players move through episodes, discover new weapons and equipment, fight Ecto-Terrestrials, and try to stop the invasion before the city gets overrun. The rulebook also notes that only one team can finish as the Employee of the Week.

- Give each player a dashboard, hero cards, starting weapons, and the tokens needed to track health, batteries, traps, and score.
- Prepare the Hot Sheets / PKE dashboard and the enemy, equipment, and weapon decks.
Round overview
- Player Phase: players take turns activating their heroes and spending actions.
- Hot Sheets Phase: new Hot Sheets cards are checked and can change the board state.
- Psychokinetic Disruptions: the Firehouse tower and tower dice determine new ET pressure.
- Ecto-Terrestrial Phase: enemies attack, move, and escalate the invasion.
What players do on their turns
During the Player Phase, heroes move around the map, attack enemies, rest, and interact with scenario objectives. The rulebook separates this into a normal action system plus combat, spawn-point interaction, and “bid-offs” where teams compete over who gets to handle certain opportunities.
Weapons and equipment matter a lot here. Each hero has faction-specific gear, health, defense, and a unique ability. As the campaign goes on, teams can gain better weapons and equipment between episodes.
Enemies and pressure systems
The basic enemies are Grunts, Shooters, and Drainers. The bosses are Tenta-Kill, Grapplegore, and Zorg-Puft. The Firehouse tower is one of the game’s signature systems: when ship panels are removed and tower dice spill out, the results help determine what kind of Ecto-Terrestrials appear.
The Hot Sheets / PKE system adds more pressure. As Hot Sheets cards are drawn, they introduce game-altering events and can push the invasion closer to disaster.
Campaign structure
The rulebook makes clear that this is not just a one-map skirmish box. The game is built around linked scenarios, story progression, team upgrades, and moving from one episode to the next. Solo play is also supported.
