Ghostbusters World Equipment

Access this area by tapping on the Menu button. Here’s where you can upgrade your equipment, build more traps and energy clips, and change the appearance of your in-game character.

Appearance

Your character can be customized to some degree, but I am hopeful that the number of options increases in the future. You select if you want your character to be male or female, to start. It’s important to note that if you purchase a uniform for your character for one gender, and switch your character’s gender, you’ll need to purchase the same uniform for your character in the other gender. It’s a strange limitation in this game.

Style

Under the Style tab, you can change the character’s head, outfit and pack. If you would like to buy the Gem unlock-able suits and packs, those are in the shop now.

  • Head: Between three different styles (each with its’ own haircut). There are three male styles and three female styles.
  • Outfit: There are now several outfits that you can pick from. Both the classic and answer the call uniforms are free, and available to both men and women.
    • Classic Uniform: From Ghostbusters. The classic uniform for busting ghosts since 1984.
    • 1989 Uniform: From Ghostbusters 2, this is a dark blue-grey uniform. The perfect Ghostbusting outfit for letting the world know you’re back in business. Cost: 450 Gems
    • 2016 Uniform: I call these the “Answer the Call Uniform.” These uniforms are modified from subway suits to help protect the wearer from slime exposure.
    • Holiday Uniform: Available for Christmas 2018. This uniform is red and has a snowy white no-ghost logo on the shoulder. Your character also wears mittens when wearing this uniform. For those who hear “holiday spirit” and think less about drinking eggnog by the fire and more about trapping wanton reindeer manifestations.
Cost: 600 Gems *comes with the Holiday Proton Pack
    • RGB Egon’s Uniform: Egon Spengler’s uniform from The Real Ghostbusters. The outfit of choice to let everyone know that you’re the brains of the operation. The high polymer blend keeps this suit dryer than your sense of humor.
      Cost: 600 Gems
    • RGB Ray’s Uniform: Raymond Stanz’s uniform from The Real Ghostbusters. You can’t just go about busting ghosts with a big heart and a childlike sense of wonder. You also need clothes.
      Cost: 600 Gems
    • RGB Venkman’s Uniform: Peter Venkman’s uniform from The Real Ghostbusters. The perfect getup to make you the afterlife of the party. Dry cleaning for frequent sliming not included.
      Cost: 600 Gems
    • RGB Winston’s Uniform: Winston Zeddemore’s uniform from The Real Ghostbusters. Taking this job might sometimes feel like a mistake, but the same can’t be said about these duds. To stay cool under pressure, you need to look the part.
      Cost: 600 Gems
  • Pack: There are several packs to choose from, but the only one that is free is the classic proton pack from the original Ghostbusters films. When you upgrade your pack, it applies to all packs at the same time, so you can safely switch packs at any point without losing any progress or starting from scratch on the upgrades.
    • Classic Proton Pack: From Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. This classic proton pack is a charged particle accelerator that straps to your back. If that doesn’t sound too dangerous, then you’re in the right line of work.
    • Holiday Proton Pack: Available for Christmas 2018. This is a gift-wrapped proton pack. There’s no better gift for the holidays than an unlicensed nuclear accelerator that you can strap to your back. Batteries not included.
Cost: 600 Gems *Comes with the Holiday Uniform
    • Kitty Character Pack: Sporting a cartoon kitty on top of your proton pack doesn’t make it any less hazardous to wear, but by Egon’s calculations, it does make you 63.7% more adorable. Not sure what this is from, or why it exists.
      Cost: 150 Gems
    • Mark III Proton Pack: From Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. This proton pack features numerous technical additions compared to its predecessors, including updated circuit boards, reinforcement to the RF discharge chamber, and the installment of a Faraday Cage.
      Cost: 150 Gems
    • RGB Proton Pack: From The Real Ghostbusters. The technology inside this proton pack works similar to that of the classic pack, but careful spectroscopic analysis has revealed it to be definitively more blue.
      Cost: 150 Gems

Color

  • Hair: Pick from five hair colors. Black, blond, brown, orange and grey.
  • Eyes: Pick from five eye colors. Maroon, blue, green, yellow and grey.
  • Skin: Pick from five flesh tones.

Equipment

This is your weapon inventory area. It’s where you can swap weapons and upgrade your weapons with research. You can upgrade main weapons and counter weapons. There are three types of ghost trap, but those are not upgrade-able.

Main Weapon

Each of these weapons can be upgraded to 5 stars. It takes a lot of time, but doing the research and getting upgrades is worth it. It increases the power of each item in a variety of ways, including faster cooling or reloading, increasing clip size and area of effect, increasing damage, and chances of critical hits.

Particle Thrower: Sometimes referred to as Neutrino wand, proton gun, or Neutrona wand, among other nicknames. The most basic piece of equipment in the ghostbusting arsenal, the particle thrower releases an ionized proton stream that has an immediate effect on psychokinetic energy. Direct application of the proton stream weakens and eventually ensnares the form of an otherwise non-corporeal entity. In other words, it can snag a ghost like a fly on a web.

Boson Caster: A powerful attachment for any proton pack, the boson caster fires a burst of highly concentrated boson particles, which we call boson darts. The darts are incredibly effective, capable of massively disrupting the psychokinetic cohesion of any given entity and effective at a distance. Their one drawback is with the amount of heat they generate – they require a longer cooldown period between uses. But the results they get are worth a little wait!

Meson Collider: The Meson Collider releases a long-range stream of destructive particles that is specifically attracted to ectoplasmic material. That’s right — it’s a ghost-seeking blast that is difficult for most entities to evade. Really useful for when you have multiple targets on your hands!

Shock Blast Emitter: The Shock Blast emitter releases a burst of Dark Matter particles that diffuse quickly in the atmosphere. Dark Matter packs a real punch and does more damage to the average spectral entity than a standard proton stream.

Counter Weapon

There is currently only one counter weapon. It can also be upgraded to five stars.

Proton Glove: The proton glove is the perfect countermeasure for those times a ghost gets in too close. When you can’t safely use the proton pack’s various attachments, this tool allows you to physically strike a spectral entity and keep them from overwhelming you.

Ghost Trap

There are currently only three types of ghost traps available in the game. They’re similar in nature to Pokeballs, Great Balls, and Ultra Balls in Pokemon Go. In your Weapon Inventory screen, you can set your default trap, but remember that you can change traps in the middle of a capture-battle.

Standard Trap: A standard trap draws in psychokinetic energy, the stuff that makes up ghosts and other spectral entities, and renders it inert. This incapacitates the ghost and allows transport to a secure storage facility.

Advanced Trap: An advanced trap operates under the same psychokinetic principles as the standard trap, but features a reinforced platinum-iridium casing that helps keep stronger supernatural manifestations sealed within.

Master Trap: A master trap represents the current pinnacle of portable ghost containment technology, Gold features prominently in many occult talismans and artifacts, and so in addition to being an excellent conductor for the trap’s augmented circuitry, the gold plating here helps ward even extremely powerful spooks, ghosts and specters from escaping.

Build

Here’s where you can build more traps and energy clips to help catch or defeat ghosts that you find around the world. It’s also worth noting that you can only produce one type of trap at a time, and one type of energy clip at a time.

Trap

All three types of trap have a storage limit of 100. At launch, you could create five of each type of trap, but a recent update to the game has lowered that number for two of the traps to three.

  1. Standard Trap: You can produce 1-5 of these traps at a time. The cost is 10 Coins per trap. Build time is 24 minutes for each, for a total build time of 2 hours for five standard traps.
  2. Advanced Trap: You can produce 1-3 of these traps at a time. The cost is 800 Coins per trap. Build time is 1 hour and 12 minutes for each, for a total build time of 3 hours and 36 minutes for three advanced traps.
  3. Master Trap: You can produce 1-3 of these traps at a time. The cost is 1800 Coins per trap. Build time is 3 hours and 12 minutes for each, for a total build time of 9 hours and 36 minutes for three master traps.

Energy Clip

These weapons are useful for multiple purposes, from weakening a ghost to potentially make it easier to catch in a trap, to bringing down bosses. All three have a storage limit of 500, which may be an increase from launch if I recall correctly. I seem to remember a storage limit of 200 of each, so if this is true, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in storage. You can also create up to 30 of each type of energy clip, at a time. Let’s explore.

  1. Dark Matter Pod: This pod provides the dark matter necessary to utilize the proton pack’s shock blast emitter. You can produce 1-30 of these clips at a time. The cost is X Coins per clip. Build time is X for each, for a total build time of X for 30 dark matter pod clips.
  2. Boson Dart: Ammunition for the boson caster, these darts are small projectiles loaded with concentrated boson particles. You can produce 1-30 of these clips at a time. The cost is X Coins per clip. Build time is X for each, for a total build time of X for 30 boson dart clips.
  3. Collider Pod: The subatomic particles contained in this pod are recombined by the meson collider into a blast of ghost-chasing energy. You can produce 1-30 of these clips at a time. The cost is X Coins per clip. Build time is X for each, for a total build time of X for 30 collider pod clips.

  1. Cost for RGB Pack is same as others: 150 gems. Also, higher level traps now only prevent/reduce chance of escape, but reduce time ghost held needs be before drawn in.

    • What ever appearance items you purchase are only for the sex your character currently is. If you buy the rgb venkman suit as a male, it does not carry over if you switch your character to female and vice versa

    • Appearance items don’t carry over from one sex to the other. Meaning you have to buy everything twice if you want to have it available to both female and male characters. Found out to late for the xmas costume. 🙁
